AS A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER IN NORTHERN PROVINCE HAVE WORKED WITH ANUMBER OF GROUPS RANGING FROM YOUTH, MEN TO WOMEN. MOST COMMUNITIES ARE READY TO TAKE UP CHALLENGES IN THE AREA OF DEVELOPMENT. A NUMBER OF THESE GROUPS HAVE HAD PROMISES FROM BOTH THE PRIVATE SECTOR AND THE GOVERNMENT WHICH COULD NOT MATERIALISED. WHAT IS SADENING IS TELLING THE COMMUNITY TO RAISE AN UPFRONT IN BOTH KIND AND MONENTARY AND THE PROMISING END FAILS TO MEET ITS OBLIGATION TO FACILITATE THE TAKING OFF OF THE PROJECT. THIS HAS BEEN THE TRENDS WHICH HAS GREATLY DEMORALISED COMMUNITIES TO INITIATE MORE CHALLENGES. EVEN THOUGH IAM AN ADVOCATE OF THE COMMUNITIES STARTING SOMETHING ON THEIR OWN AND ENGAGE OTHER STAKEHOLDERS AT A LATER STAGE TO RUN AWAY FROM SPOON FEEDING.

AS FOR KJFFLS THE COMMITMENT SHOWN BY THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF THE PROJECT MOVED CMI TO SUPPORT THEM. AS AT NOW KJFFLS HAS RESOLVED TO MAKE GOOD USE OF THE RESOURCES THEY HAVE ENHANCE DEVELOPMENT IN THE CATCHMENT AREA THEY OPERATE AND BEYOND. THE FUNDING BY CMI IS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND TO BE GIVEN TO KANANDA COMMUNITY WHICH HAS SINCE ATTRACTED SEVERAL DEVELOPMENTAL GROUPS WANTING TO ASSOCIATE THEMSELVES WITH KJFFLS.

THE STORY OF KJFFLS HAS SPREAD ACROSS MUNGWI DISTRICT

THis is a good reminder Kenneth of the need to follow through when you begin an initiative and also to take the communities history into consideration when you may be temped to judge people for not rallying in the way that you expect them to. Perhaps it is not all laziness but the human tendency to loose faith when one is let down time after time.

With CMI this is also a good reminder. We have community groups approaching us all of the time and since we have so little money and the objectives seem worthy it is temping to say "maybe" since you don't want to cruch hope. But then we have challenges raising money and often it has taken much longe to fulfill our commitment to a loan than initially expected.

From this lesson I believe that we at CMI should be conscious and careful about what groups and programs we commit to in order to make sure that we follow through and are always aware of our capacity limit given our means at the time.

Great picture of the new pigs!!! Can't wait to see them soon. :)
